Friday, May 7th, 2010Sometimes we must fight for a product. However, over time, The Beadcage has built a reputation with manufacturers that we are dedicated retailers. Manufacturers actually want us to carry their products as their sole retailer in the area.
When we commit to a product, we take it seriously. Before we bring a product into our store, we carefully research the product. We only want great products and products that will be successful. We may start off testing the water with a product buying into a small amount of their most popular items. If we find the product a match for the store, we will typically commit to the entire line. Manufacturers like this and customers like this. It is a win for everyone.
Just look at our core products. We have an amazing selection of Lampe Berger including lampes and fragrance. Our product representative from Lampe Berger said we have the greatest selection she has ever seen. When you come to buy Lampe Berger you are buying from the biggest and best retailer of the product. There are only a couple other retailers in the country that can match our selection and service. In addition we also carry most of the line of Lampe Avenue lampes and all of their fragrance. We are also licensed by the government to ship the Lampe Fuel within the US.
For jewelry, we carry the entire line of Trollbeads. We carry the entire line of Chamilia. We carry the entire line of Kameleon. We can get the entire line of John Medeiros, and have nearly all of his product on hand. We are usually fully stocked and our sales people understand buy and wear these lines.
We just obtained one of the most well known luxury lines of bath and body, The Thymes. Have only had the line for a little over a month and now carry their full line of products. We have committed to purchasing the Frazier Fur line for the upcoming Holiday Season. This is a tremendously popular product and as the sole retailer in our area we have committed to a sizable stock in order to not run out.
When a customer comes to our store, we want to have the best product lines and have the exact item they want.
Whats a “Trunk Show”?

For us, it is basically a fancy name for a special event. I believe it has its roots coming from the days when salesmen drove from store to store with his goods in his trunk. It is a bit different than a sale but along the same lines. It is a way for a retailer to feature a product and have some specials associated with it without using the term putting the product on sale. There may be some give aways during the event. The product representatives may be there to offer specials advice or free things. You may find that the retailer has planned drawings or provided food or other goodies to enjoy. At The Beadcage, our Trunk Shows usually feature one of our luxury products; products that are usually not put on sale. The manufactures limit the amount of Trunk Shows we have for their product and closely regulate the specials we are allowed to offer.
Trunk shows we usually have feature Trollbeads, Chamilia, Kameleon, and Lampe Berger. Typically we will announce these Shows in our monthly newsletter, by email, or by post card. Sometimes we may advertise in the media. We usually hang a large banner across the side of our store that says, “Trunk Show”. If the banner is hung early it will have a smaller sign saying “coming soon”. We take the “coming soon” banner down the days of the “Trunk Show”. Everyone is invited to buy product at the Trunk Show. Most are well attended and are a great social event. Besides being fun, they usually offer some great deals. There may be buy some get some free or money off offers or even more creative offers. These events happen rarely so they should not be missed. If you are going to be out of town during the event, contact us for information regarding calling in or emailing to get the special offers. The special deals while permitted by the manufacturers are actually being given as a gift directly from The Beadcage. When we give away a product, almost all times, we have paid for this product and the gift is from us, not from the manufacturer. So when you receive a free bracelet or bead or fragrance, it is a personal gift purchased from the manufacturer and being given as a gift from the store to you. It usually is the only time we can do something extra nice for our customers. Discounting at any other time of the year, no matter how much we would like to do it, is strictly prohibited by the manufacturers and may result in the loss of our distributorship for the product. |

What is better, Pandora or Chamilia?
Wednesday, May 5th, 2010Pandora vs. Chamilia. Chamilia wins hands down. The Beadcage at one time Pandora and we were the 6th retailer in the United States to carry this product. The product was nice, but there were several things that just were not as good as the Chamilia line. Also, the company was terrible to deal with. We often went weeks of months with back ordered product from the company. They micromanaged our store and really did not understand our market. It got to the point where we were unhappy and our customers were unhappy with the brand and we decided to drop it.
Our decision to drop Pandora was a great one. The brand continues a downward spiral. It is now found in discount mall jewelers and the few remaining original retailers still cannot get product to their customers.
Chamilia has a better design in our opinion as far as the bracelets are concerned. The absence of two screws in the middle of the bracelet makes Chamilia the best choice in bracelets. Many of the the silver beads are similar, but Chamilia is an American company and has so many more silver beads that are relevant to our way of life. The are the only company of this kind licensed to sell Walt Disney charms. Overall, we feel Chamilia has a better selection of beads. Also, Chamilia’s glass beads are head over heels superior to Pandora’s glass in our opinion. The glass beads are made in Atlanta Georgia using glass purchased from Murano, Italy. Our customers prefer the Chamilia beads and glass beads to Pandora too.
We have converted most of our old Pandora customers to Chamilia and or Trollbeads and our customer base and sales have more than doubled since switching to Chamilia. Chamilia appears to be a more coveted or more preferred line by more of our upscale customers.. Customers also prefer to buy from us. Because we sell Chamilia, they know we carry the best and usually choose the lines we carry. We have more years experience in selling this type of jewelery than just about anyone else in the country. We understand quality and which lines are the best.
To sum things up, Chamilia wins in status, design, quality, beauty, customer service and it is an American company. Pandora has better commercials and can be found, if in stock, at mall discount jewelers.
