Silly Bandz Crazy Bands
Tuesday, June 8th, 2010
Yes! We have them. This relatively new craze is heating up and we have been carrying these rubber bands for some time now. These are the rubber bands that come in all shapes and maintain their shapes no matter how much they are stretched.
I just don’t get it because I am old, but kids understand this immediately. They have to have them. They collect them and they trade them.
We have a large collection at a great price. Many too choose from in stock everyday. Make a child or young adult happy for very little money. This is something that is hard to do in this day and age.
Crazerasers Collectible Puzzle Erasers
Tuesday, June 8th, 2010
Another one of those crazy collectibles kids just have to have. When I was a child it was Now and Laters and baseball cards and Wacky Packs. Now they collect puzzle erasers. Yes, tiny puzzles made of eraser material. The most popular are the crudest, like the toilet bowl collection.
This craze started in Japan and the original are a product of Japan that comes in Japanese packaging. We carry a brand that has many more choices and are value priced. Children are attracted to these like moths to light. They instantly understand the concept and have to have these. The collections change constantly and kids love to find rare erasers.
The Beadcage has a large stock of these in great new and retired packages.
When we say everything is for sale, we are not kidding.
Thursday, June 3rd, 2010I bring this up to point out something many people do not know. When we started this business, most of our display units were antiqued pine and hardwood furniture. We would actually sell our displays, as they were wonderful unique pieces, and buy new ones.
Since we opened our newest store, many of these great pieces have been sold off. However, we still have several great pieces that are available for sale. We have one bench and several tables and cabinets waiting for new homes. You can come in a find a great deal on wonderful piece at or below wholesale pricing. These are sturdy quality pieces in great condition.
In addition, we have a few jewelry display cases for sale also. These are fine quality pieces in great condition.
Is gift wrapping as a service going the way of the bread cutters in grocery stores?
Thursday, June 3rd, 2010Yes I could have used other analogies but this was the first to come to mind.
Having gift wrapping is such a rarity that most people don’t even think of asking anymore. When I was a child, all the stores wrapped gifts, for free! Then as time went on there were charges for wrapping, but you could always get a free box with tissue paper. Now it is rare to even see gift wrapping anywhere.
Since we opened we have always provided free gift wrapping on all of your purchases. No other place in our town offers this same service. It is a funny phenomena that when someone gets a store wrapped gift in our town, they have a good idea it is coming from The Beadcage. It seems like such a small thing, but it really is a great service we have been providing for years.
Believe it or not, gift wrapping is a costly service to provide to customers. We had no idea how costly until we started looking at the numbers. Just having a space to hold the wrapping material and do the wrapping takes up valuable selling space. There is a great deal of training that goes into teaching how to do a nice gift wrap. Then there is the time involved and employee costs that go into wrapping each gift as nicely as we do. There seems to be a cost factor behind all the stores dropping this as a free service.
Nevertheless it seems like The Beadcage is the last hold out relic still providing free gift wrapping for our customers. In fact, we have not been able to figure out if people are coming to us because of this service. If they are, then we are grateful. If they are not coming to us because of this and we offer this to them, I know they are grateful too.
